Katy Dorrien- Flutist

I perform in any style and genre; classical, funk, hip hop and r&b, rock, jazz, pop and am currently enjoying the use of distortion/electronic effects in my sound as well.

Wherever my music takes me, I always draw from my intense training to continually develop my own style of performance and improvisation.

Some Pictures from my Crohn’s and Colitis Benefit Concert! Much thanks to DJ Andy Gil, DJ Pharaoh, Just Alliance, Santanimal, Matthew Banks and Christa Mercey!! What an amazing night of music, food, drinks and giveaways for this worthy cause! Photo Credit Mike Sanchez.

My Last performance in NYC was for The Association of Music producers at Le Poisson Rouge. This was their MUSE 2 MUSIC event in which 5 composers were chosen to compose music to “Antons Prayer”, a poem written by Brian Jones. It was an honor to work with composer Nicholas Wright and record and perform with all the fabulous musicians seen in this video :)

I have not had the pleasure of seeing Simfinity in person but my incredibly talented colleague and friend Nicole Schroeder has teamed up with her band mate to create this incredible duo. The 3 compositions that are on the Branchfield/Shroeder Duo’s site are beautifully and elegantly written with just the right amount of unpredictability.  What a treat to hear!! I’ll be buying the CD :) Go Nicole!
